Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG Scheme)

From the 28th of February 2011, everyone who works with vulnerable adults in Scotland, must register with the PVG scheme.

If you are changing jobs and new to Garvald Glenesk, you are responsible for registering yourself with the scheme prior to employment, ideally before you come for your interview. This will cost you £59.

You can only be employed by us if:

  • you can show Garvald Glenesk your PVG Membership Statement detailing your Membership number
  • when Garvald Glenesk request a Scheme Update Record (which costs £18) the record is acceptable for the post you have applied for.

Scottish Social Services Council

In line with the SSSC guidance Scottish Social Service workers will be required to register with them if they wish to have a career in social care. In Jan 2011 the register opened for managers and at some time in the near future the register will open for other workers.

As the register is a professional register it is the responsibility of the employee to join the register and maintain your registration.

You can only be employed by Garvald Glenesk if you already have or are willing to work towards the appropriate qualification for your registration.
